Okanagan Winery Wedding: Girls Weekend

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of joining some good friends for a weekend in the Okanagan to photograph a beautiful winery wedding. Destination weddings are always special but there was something extra special about this one; spending the day at a stunning winery with sweeping views of Lake Okanagan has it’s perks but working and spending the weekend with some of my favourite people in the wedding industry was definitely the highlight! I was honoured to once again shoot alongside my friend Kim of Kim James Photography and document a stunning wedding that was perfectly planned by my dear friend Stephanie of Sweetheart Events and her assistant Shawna and intern Kathlene. We kicked off the weekend with a lovely dinner at Hillside Winery in Naramata organized by the always fabulous Jasmine Hoffman; the food and wine were topped only by the stunning grounds and sweeping lake views from the winery tower. After many glasses of wine, we all pledged to return again soon.

Following a hot scorching day photographing at Poplar Grove Winery we spent the final day of our Okanagan trip touring a couple of our group’s favourite wineries. A stop at Painted Rock Estate Winery with it’s panoramic views of Skaha Lake did not disappoint; wandering the grounds I couldn’t help but imagine how beautiful of a wedding venue it would be. A short drive along the lake’s edge led us to God’s Mountain Estate, sitting a top a long windy road it’s easily my favourite wedding venue in the entire Okanagan. Nestled amongst grape vines and fruit trees, it’s truly an escape like no other. Incredible lake views, beautiful gardens and quiet serenity; meandering the property I felt as though I’d been transported to another place and time. Stephanie and I  simply couldn’t get enough of the estate and when we finally did leave I couldn’t stop dreaming of spending the night gazing at the stars from their roofless room. Dirty Laundry Vineyard in Summerland, a favourite of the Sweetheart Events girls, was our final stop and it did not disappoint. The vineyard views from the patio were so beautiful and the wine was definitely some of my favourite! All in all it was a special weekend, one that’s filled with great memories I won’t soon forget.
