“All good things are wild and free.”
It’s rare for me to find spare time during wedding season; most days are spent editing photos and replying to emails and weekends are dedicated to weddings. So I felt incredibly lucky to have a little lull between weddings at the beginning of this month to escape to the mountains to relax and recharge. We decided a trip through the Rockies with it’s amazing scenery to visit dear friends in Calgary was just what we needed.
Our days were spent enjoying great conversation over delicious food with a little local exploring thrown into the mix. We visited Drumheller, which made me realize that dinosaurs are amazing regardless of your age, and numerous sites throughout the Rocky Mountains. For me, Emerald Lake was a favourite, with it’s incredibly turquoise water and stunning surrounding mountains it was hard from me to leave. Emerald Lake Lodge which is located steps from the lake would make a gorgeous location for a rustic mountain wedding for the true Rocky Mountain Bride. A quick stop at Cathedral Mountain Lodge with its beautiful view of Cathedral Mountain made me realize I sometimes take for granted how lucky I am to live in such an amazing province. Exploring Lake Louise and some time spent inside the gorgeous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise were enough to convince me that a return trip to the Rockies is definitely in order!
