Every so often there’s a wedding that’s hard to put into words, where the family and friends are so welcoming you instantly feel like you’ve known them for ages and the details and setting of the wedding are just simply amazing; this was one of those weddings. Set against the gorgeous backdrop of the Sunshine Coast on tiny Thormanby Island, accessible only by water taxi, Kim and I set out to capture this beautiful wedding. It was one of the hottest days of the summer so we welcomed the beach setting complete with cool ocean breezes with open arms. The island is home to the bride’s family cabin which made it the ideal setting for the wedding; it was full of memories from many summers spent here growing up.
No detail was overlooked from the beautiful reception set in a clearing in the woods to the hand painted place settings made of driftwood collected from along the beach. The wedding colours were a photographer’s dream with the softest sage greens and gorgeous peaches and pale pinks, it’s definitely my favourite colour palette because it photographs so beautifully. Guests were treated to a perfect cocktail hour and were entertained with a variety of games including giant Jenga (my favourite)! I can safely say, I’ve never seen a family with such amazing dance moves, they really should win an award! We were lucky to sneak away at sunset to grab a few beautiful photos on the beach to finish off this perfect day. I encourage every couple to make time in their wedding day for sunset photos, it’s my favourite time of day because the light is soft and creamy creating the dreamiest photos.
