Every time I pick up my camera it’s a privilege to be asked to document personal moments, however there’s something extra special being asked to photograph a friend and fellow photographer. Mikaela and I met just over a year ago and quickly hit it off, she’s kind and genuine, two of the many reasons her friends (and clients) love her. It’s been fun shooting a few weddings alongside Mikaela who owns Mikaela Ruth Photography, we’ve shared many laughs and a few heart to hearts along the way. Not only is she an incredibly talented wedding and lifestyle photographer, she’s also a mama to two adorable kiddos, Zaya and Ava. For their session we met on a gorgeous fall afternoon, only a couple of days after Shane and Mikaela celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary and close to Ava’s 6 months; the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. I feel honoured to have documented their first official photos as a family of four, filled with plenty of candid moments, and can’t wait to watch their sweet family grow.
I was introduced to Anne and Tim by my dear friend Stephanie of Sweetheart Events. After meeting them and hearing just a few of the many details of their wedding, I immediately knew their day would be nothing short of amazing. Anne and Tim chose Zajac Ranch for their wedding and it was easy to see why; the views are absolutely spectacular and the setting perfectly matched their vision of a wilderness wedding. It was an absolute joy getting to know these two over the last year, I admire their fiercely adventurous spirit and love for life and each other which was beautifully reflected throughout their wedding.
On the day of the wedding Anne spent a relaxing morning with her girls as Faye Smith worked her magic on Anne’s hair and makeup, creating one of my all time favourite bridal hair styles. After a few glasses of Veuve Clicquot (a personal favourite), the girls helped Anne into her custom wedding dress before heading to see Tim who was waiting for her in a clearing in the forest for their first look. The day was filled with incredible details, from the organic florals and beautiful greenery to the custom made arch and incredible naked cake, no detail was missed thanks to Stephanie’s impeccable eye. Despite the heavy rain these two were absolutely amazing and when it did ease we quickly snuck out for some mountain photos. After many touching words and emotional memories of those who couldn’t be in attendance, the party officially began and these two, along with their closest friends and family, danced the night away.
Anne and Tim, I am eternally grateful our paths crossed and I couldn’t be more excited as you embark on this new adventure together.

Every so often I have the privilege of documenting special moments for friends. I photographed Britt and Allen when they were excitedly awaiting the arrival of their son Austin, who’s now two years old, and was thrilled when they once again asked me to photograph their newest arrival. We spent a beautiful evening amongst the trees, soaking up the last little bit of summer and making a few more special memories before this family of three becomes four.
